For years Cleveland has highlighted the achievements and importance of its elder community with an annual Senior Day. This celebration is held in May, which is Older Americans Month, and includes an information fair, recognition of outstanding seniors, lunch and entertainment.
Cleveland Senior Walk: Next Event September 30th, 2010
The Cleveland Senior Walk promotes exercise, good nutrition, and healthy lifestyles.
This event is sponsored by the Cleveland Departments of Aging and Public Health, the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging, the Clevelanders in Motion of the YMCA, and the Senior health and Wellness center at Metro Health, Old Brooklyn campus.
Increased life expectancy allows, or may make it necessary, for seniors to work full or part-time after completing a career. Employers find it beneficial to hire experienced, older workers. Every year, representatives at Employment Connection bring them together.
Disability Awareness Day- Next Event: October 2009
The annual luncheon is held in October which is Disability Employment Awareness Month, and includes entertainment and service and resource tables for those affected by physical and mental disabilities.
