Street Resurfacing and Construction Projects Downtown

CLEVELAND – The month of June promises to be an exciting and busy time in the City of Cleveland. The Cleveland Cavaliers will compete for the NBA Championship, the Cleveland Indians continue their season, concerts will draw throngs of people downtown, and many more summertime activities promise to provide plenty to do, see, and eat in Cleveland.

In order to prepare for these upcoming events, the City of Cleveland would like to remind area visitors and residents of street construction and resurfacing projects either in progress or upcoming.

Street closures and resurfacing:

  • West 3rd Street. Monday, June 1 – August, 2015. One northbound and one southbound lane of traffic will be maintained and no detours are expected.
  • East 9th Street will close in both directions between Orange and Carnegie Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 29 through 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 30. Motorists will be detoured to Ontario Street. The exit ramp from I-90 east to East 9th Street and the entrance ramp from East 9th Street to I-90 west will remain open.

Interstate Impacts:

  • On Saturday, May 30 crews will close I-71 north at I-490 from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Opt for the Alternate! Use I-490 east to I-77 north to reach I-90 or Downtown locations.

RTA:

  • This weekend, buses will replace trains for all rail service (Red, Blue and Green lines) east of the Tower City Station. Go to your Rapid Station, and board near bus stop signs for 66R (Red Line) or 67R (Blue and Green lines). Red Line service between downtown and the Airport will not be affected. For more info, click here, visit www.RideRTA.com or call the RTAnswerline at 216.621.9500.

If you are Downtown this weekend, please pardon our dust as we get Cleveland ready for the national spotlight and visitors from all over this summer!
