Black History Month

The 2019 City of Cleveland Black History Month celebration kicked off on Friday, February 1st. This year’s theme “Cleveland: Building a Sense of Community” recognizes local Black leaders who have improved and advanced their communities. This year’s celebration is dedicated to James and William Whitley as well as Joyce Whitley (posthumously) of Whitley & Whitley Architects and their lasting contributions to the City of Cleveland.

Mayor Frank G. Jackson invites the community to the City’s Black History Month activities, which will highlight business, health, media, gospel music and arts. Black History Month events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted in the calendar.
