City of Cleveland Extends Hours at 8 Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Centers Ahead of Excessive Heat Watch

The City of Cleveland reminds residents to exercise caution during high heat days like Thursday, Friday and Saturday when temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees with high humidity. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch from noon Friday to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

City outdoor pools will be open when temperatures reach 85 degrees and spray basins open when the temperature reaches 80 degrees. The City of Cleveland’s spray basins will remain on through Monday, July 22.

Health & Wellness is one of six key areas of expanded programming at our Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Centers. The new offerings are part of Mayor Frank G. Jackson's efforts to improve quality of life for Cleveland residents. Heath & Wellness Fairs are free and open to the public.

The City of Cleveland and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio are seeking qualified applicants for appointment to the Cleveland Community Police Commission. To qualify for consideration applicants must reside or work in the City of Cleveland.

This is a FREE public sidewalk chalk drawing event on Tuesday July 23rd from 1 to 3pm. Patrons are provided with buckets of chalk, giving everyone the opportunity to show off their artistic abilities on a cement canvas. The festival will include face painting, music, snow cones and a collaborative piece that everyone can participate in. 

Thanks to Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s enhanced budget, made possible by Issue 32, the City of Cleveland is embarking on more street improvement projects in 2017 than in years past. Projects span all neighborhoods and wards throughout the city.

The City of Cleveland Kennel is located at 9203 Detroit Avenue. All adoptable dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and come with a Cuyahoga County license. Drop-ins are welcome but appointments are encouraged.

In an interview with the radio show The Water Zone, sponsored by Toro, Mayor Frank G. Jackson – joined by Sustainability Chief Matt Gray and Utilities Chief of Public Affairs and Communications Jason Wood – spoke about his Sustainable Cleveland 2019 initiative and the Cuyahoga50 celebration.

There's information on the summer opening of City pools, summer programming at Neighborhood Resource and Recreation Centers, Safe Smart CLE and an important upcoming request for proposal.

The City of Cleveland today announced a series of residential roads slated for resurfacing beginning the week of April 15. This first round of residential resurfacing will take place in wards 2, 9 and 10. These projects are scheduled for completion by the end of July 2019.

Cleveland Division of Recreation today announced the return of its Cleveland Nights Extended Hours Program, an initiative designed to offer the City’s young people a safe space during evening hours. Eight Neighborhood Resource and Recreation Centers (NRRC) will host the program from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays. The 2019 program runs from June 19 to Aug. 10.

The Cleveland Department of Aging and the Division of Recreation are sponsoring eight Summer Senior Walks at scenic parks and Neighborhood Resource and Recreation Centers in Summer 2019. This is a great way to get active, meet new friends, explore our parks and have fun. Each walk will offer a raffle and safety tips by Public Safety.

The Mayor's Office of Communications prepares and distributes information to Veterans and their supporters monthly, via the Cleveland City Hall blog. The page includes timely information on special events, memorials, healthcare, and other news of value to local veterans. 

Westbound traffic will be restricted, Eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane, and access to Mall Drive will be restricted on St. Clair Avenue at Mall Drive from Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to construction activity. This activity is part of the Music Hall roof project, which includes removal and replacement of portions of the roof system over the main stage area of the Hall.

Mayor Frank G. Jackson announced in an email to subscribers of his eNewsletter, that he will hold his annual State of the City address on Oct. 10. The address will remain free and open to the public.
