The Law Enforcement Explorer Program has been carefully designed to meet the needs and desires of high school aged youths who are interested in a career in law enforcement.
Under the auspices of the Boy Scouts of America, the Explorer Program’s objectives are to study the law enforcement field, seek to build character and leadership and develop exemplary citizens for the future. Youth between the ages of 14-18 are eligible to participate.
Some of the topics covered include: First Aid, Crime Prevention, Patrol Procedures, Crime Scene Processing, How to handle Domestic Violence and Community Relations.
Interested candidates can get an application at 2001 Payne Avenue from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. An orientation meeting is set for 10 am on October 9, 2010 at Burke Lakefront Airport. Applicants are subject to background checks and will be interviewed by officers before gaining acceptance. -more

Web users can report some common property damage or theft crimes online, search neighborhood crime maps and view/print copies of accident reports at no cost. They may also sign up to receive crime alerts, if desired. more
