We do not give out application status information, but all applications are kept on file for six months.

How do I apply for a position with the City of Cleveland?

Non-skilled positions: Applications (here) are accepted weekdays from 8am to 4:30pm. Some non-skilled positions will only require an application. Other positions require a Civil Service Exam. Applicants must meet all minimum requirements listed for entrance to the exam.

Exams are in one or more of the following forms: written, performance based, physical, medical, experimental or oral. There is a $10 application fee for each exam. Applications are currently available for these positions. This list is frequently updated, or you may call call 216.664.2420 for the list. Exam applications can only be picked up at the Civil Service Commission in City Hall's Room 119.

Those who score 70%, are put on an eligibility list which expires after two years.

Skilled positions: Information on open positions can be obtained at 216.664.2420 or here. You must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed for the position to be considered for employment.

How do I apply for seasonal employment?

The City has two seasonal programs. In the Spring, applications are made available for Park Maintenance, and in the Fall the City hires drivers (must have valid CDL) and laborors. If interested in either program, call 216.664.2493 for details

Do you have Summer Youth employment opportunities?

Yes, the Department of Recreation accepts applications from youth 15 or older in early March for recreation and playground summer employment. Applications can be picked up in City Hall Room 8, weekdays 8am-4 pm.
