What is the process for placing a headstone in a City-managed cemetery?

The monument dealers must submit a sketch of the headstone, including the dimension of all sides which conform to the City’s guidelines. The Cemetery must verify that the information matches City records, in addition to providing the grave location to the dealer.

Single graves range from $765 to $948. A family lot purchase varies depending on type of grave (flush or raised).

What method of payments does the City accept for graves in City-managed cemeteries?

Yes, upon request. Call 216. 664.3104 for up to 6 yards of wood chips. They will be delivered free of charge to any City of Cleveland resident in 5 to 7 business days. The City does not store wood chips for pick up.

Is the city responsible for the tree in my back yard?

No, the city is responsible only for trees on tree lawns. You must call a private contractor for other trees in your yard.

What does the City consider emergency tree service?

Limbs that pose a safety hazard, hang into right-of-ways or cover stop signs, and downed trees and limbs.

There is graffiti on public property. Can I paint over it myself?

No, due to safety reasons there are specific paint products used. The City has to ensure products are not lead-based.
