Is there still space at Highland Cemetery for burials?

No. However, at times a location becomes available when someone sells a formerly purchased space back to the cemetery. Call them at 216 348-7210 to check availability.

My loved one is buried in a City-managed cemetery. May I plant flowers on their grave?

Planting is permitted in the raised marker sections only. You may plant annuals or perennial flowers one foot in front of the headstone. Additional decorating information can be found here.

What is the process for placing a headstone in a City-managed cemetery?

The monument dealers must submit a sketch of the headstone, including the dimension of all sides which conform to the City’s guidelines. The Cemetery must verify that the information matches City records, in addition to providing the grave location to the dealer.

Single graves range from $765 to $948. A family lot purchase varies depending on type of grave (flush or raised).

How may I do a Genealogy research?

Write to the main office (Highland Park Cemetery, 21400 Chagrin Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44122) with the name of the deceased, the year of death, and the proper spelling of their last name. We will send a written response to you with all of the information in our database. This information is most commonly the age at the time of death, the cause of death, the date of the interment and the location of the final resting place.

Does the city provide free wood chips to residents?

Yes, upon request. Call 216. 664.3104 for up to 6 yards of wood chips. They will be delivered free of charge to any City of Cleveland resident in 5 to 7 business days. The City does not store wood chips for pick up.
