City of Cleveland Issues Discipline After Hopkins International Airport Security Incident

CLEVELAND – The City of Cleveland today announced the discipline of two officials following an Oct. 25 security incident at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport: 

Assistant Director of Port Control Fred Szabo: 

    • Suspended without pay for 10 working days
    • The following airport-authorized privileges are suspended for 90 days: escort privileges, on-airfield driving privileges and bypass access privileges

Chief of Operations for the City of Cleveland Darnell Brown:

    • Suspended without pay for five working days

Both officials were previously suspended with pay pending the outcome of the review. The City of Cleveland’s review of this incident is now closed.
